Specific Admission Requirements

Students' placements are made according to their YGS-1 points they obtained from the Undergraduate Transition Exam (YGS), which is conducted by the Centre for Students Selection and Placement (ÖSYM).

Qualification Requirements

Successful completion of all of the courses available in the program (for a total of 240 ECTS) and having a weighted GPA of at least 2.00 out of 4.00 is a necessary qualification for graduation.

Recognition of Prior Learning

Students who have previously enrolled in other higher education universities in Turkey or abroad have been assessed by the board of directors of the relevant department for credit and grading transfer requests in the first week so as to include all their education and for a time only.

History

The Department of Computer Education and Instructional Technology Education was established in 2006 and students have been enrolled to the sub-department of Computer Education and Instructional Technology Teaching for the first time in the academic year of 2016-2017.

Profile of the Programme

There are currently 4 assistant professors and two research assistants in the Computer Education and Instructional Technology Teaching Program. There are 29 students in the program. The quota of the program is 30 and the time of education is 4 years.

Program Outcomes

1- Plans and organizes teaching-learning environments from a technological point.
2- Designs and improves effective learning environments for students’ different learning needs using information technologies.
3- Obtains theories, models, strategies, methods, and current approaches of instructional technologies.
4- Obtains general teaching principles, strategies, methods and techniques and special teaching methods to the field.
5- Obtains the theory of distance education and technological infrastructure.
6- Develops basic maintenance and repair strategies for software, hardware and network elements.
7- Uses ICTs in an healthy, secure, ethical and effective manner.
8- Develops projects by utilizing information technologies.
9- Uses acquired knowledge and skills related to the field to generate creative solutions for educational problems.
10- Develops problem solving and algorithm design skills.
11- Develops database for desktop, web, and mobile environments.
12- Develops desktop, web and mobile application for education.
13- Takes responsibility in individual and group studies and performs the task effectively.
14- Conducts research with scientific research process.
15- Obtains historical and cultural development of science and technology.
16- Plans and implements activities and professional projects for social environment where lives with social responsibility awareness.
17- Follows and implements innovative approaches in the field.
18- Uses the teaching profession knowledge and skills in the field.

Exam Regulations & Assesment & Grading

The evaluation methods / techniques and the percentage contribution of the examinations & the other evaluation tools (projects, presentations, field trips ect.) to the final grade are determined by the course instructor. The evaluation of the final academic achievement (final letter grades) is conducted by the relative grading system (curve grading) at all faculties, institutes and rectorate affiliated units in the university.

Occupational Profiles of Graduates

Graduates can be emoloyed as: "Teachers of Information Technologies" in state and special status schools affiliated to the Ministry of National Education, academicians in the universities 'department, educational or field specialists in the firms' training units, e-learning specialists in various distance education institutions

Access to Further Studies

Candidates who have successfully completed undergraduate education can receive post-graduate education in their own fields or related fields, provided that they meet the necessary conditions.

Mode of Study

The main aim of Department of Computer Education and Instructional Technology Teaching is to train teachers who will provide computer training in primary education, secondary education and secondary education. It is also aimed to educate the instructional technology specialists that will enable the effective use and evaluation of the technologies to be used in teaching and learning environments.
