Philosophy of Doctarate

Specific Admission Requirements

Evaluation of ALES score of 50%, average 20% of undergraduate and 30% of interviews or written score is calculated by adding the points made by the Board of Directors according to the Institute. Achievement score out of 100 is required to be at least 60.

Qualification Requirements

Students are entitled to have an undergraduate certificate/diploma who are succesfully complete programme courses (total 180 ECTS) and achieve at least 2.00 GPA from 4.00 grade system.

Recognition of Prior Learning

Students who have completed at least one semester in other graduate programs in higher education institutions may transfer to the university's graduate program.

History

Muğla University Institution of Social Sciences was established in 1993, after a two-year preparation period, it began its active education and training by accepting students in 1995-1996 education-training year.

Profile of the Programme

The purpose of this program is to train graduates who can effectively use the methodology of economics.

Program Outcomes

1- Develops new models and perspectives by bringing together the information obtained from theory and politics about economy and finance.
2- Identifies the decision-making in the field of economics and finance, politics, systems and interprets them anaytically in practical terms.
3- Examines the role of concepts of innovation, creativity and technologhy in a dynamic global economy.
4- Can move forward the knowledge by taking courses on microeconomics, macroeconomics, money and banking, international finance and international financial institutions.
5- Gains the ability of formulating economic problems and making future projections by using mathematical, statistical and econometric analysis tools.
6- Gains the learning skills to continue his/her work without a dependency or in an autonomous way.
7- Creates new research topics about other disciplines related with economy and finance and offers new policy.
8- Apllies his/her their own knowledge, understanding and problem solving skills into working areas (or multidisciplinary) contexts or new or unfamiliar environment.
9- Gains the ability of adapting and implementing an important research progress.
10- Can work in different group workshops.
11- Becomes a demanded employee with high level knowledge in the field of economics and finance in both public and private sector.
12- Will have a value system including the beliefs and behaviours about sub-divisions of economy and finance.
13- Will have a high level of consciousness about democratic process, the role of science in everyday life, sensitivity of others welfare, individual and cultural differences.
14- Can communicate with a foreign language at a general level both written and oral.
15- Uses softwares with advanced information and commynication technologies.

Exam Regulations & Assesment & Grading

% 50 percent of the midterm grade and % 50 percent of the final exam grade add up to the overall passing grade. Students are required to take a mid-term examination and/or complete other assigned projects/homework during the semester and, additionally, are required to take a final examination and/or complete a final project for course evaluation.The assessment for each course is described in detail in “Individual Course Description”. The midterm examinations are compacted and given in the 8th week of the semester. In addition to midterm examinations and other work, students are required to take a final examination. Final examinations are held at the appropriate place and hour as decided. Forty percent of the midterm grade and sixty percent of the final exam grade add up to the overall passing grade. Students must attend classes, practices and examinations. Students' attendance is followed by the Instructor of the course. Graduation Requirements

Students must obtain a grade point average of at least 2.00 out of 4.00 and successfully pass all courses on the programme (equivalent to a total of 180 ECTS).

Occupational Profiles of Graduates

Upon successful completion of the doctoral program graduates can apply for specialist positions to higher education institutions in the country or abroad.
