Qualification Awarded

Graduates who have accomplished the programme with success and minimum requirements, receive Ph.D degree in Physics.

Specific Admission Requirements

The Department of Physics accepts studentswho has MSc degrees from acceptable areas and students have to get enough points from ALES which is conducted by OSYM.

Qualification Requirements

To become successful in qualifications exam (in oral and written form) after completing compulsory courses and seminar course.

Recognition of Prior Learning

Students who have attended previous programmes in other Education Institutions can take exams on Basic Computer Skills and English courses to become exempted from these courses.

History

Ph.D Programme has started in 2006 as a part of Mugla Sıtkı Kocman University Department of Physics and has accepted first students in 2006-2007 academic year.

Profile of the Programme

Department of Physics intend to serve to the public best opportunities with its dynamic and experienced staff. Department of Physics implies its duties and missions based on broad vision, through the academic body of Dean of Science Faculty and Rectorate. Stakeholders of the Department are expected to be TUBİTAK, State Planning Organization (DPT) and other firms like banks, Universities, Research Institutions and graduates.

Program Outcomes

1- Having efficient knowledge and back ground at Solid state physics, quantum mechanics, statistical physics, high energy physics
2- To become an experienced international academic researcher who has been well educated at national industry and applied sciences.
3- To achieve academic data and back ground to follow recent developments of physics at international and national level.
4- To develop scientific background at physics, to grasp physical problems, interpret and analyze these problems.
5- To offer new, creative and innovative solutions to physical problems.
6- To prove applicability of his/ her experiences at solutions of physical problems.
7- To make advanced researches at national and international levels and produce academic publications.
8- To make disciplinary and inter disciplinary team Works.
9- To have academic knowledge to create academy- industry corporations.
10- To have principles and skills on working at national and international research projects lik Framework Programmes.
11- To have ability to scan sources and literature, to prepare experimental set up, use and apply it and to interpret related outcomes.
12- To have academic and Professional ethic principles and to defend these principles at all aspects of life.
13- To develop his/her personal skills within the light of main principles of Physics as a science fort he sake of scientific and technological development.
14- To present his/her academic outcomes and results on national and international conferences, seminars and workshops and especially to publicize them at SCI academic journals.
15- To become well equipped at photovoltaics and solar energy systems and to provide development for our country to fullfil national and global energy needs.

Exam Regulations & Assesment & Grading

Exams, measurements and evaluations are regulated and applied through the “Code of Mugla Sıtkı Kocman University on Undergraduate and Graduate Education Exam”

Graduation Requirements

Students are required to enroll 54 ECTS credits of the relevant courses and get 2.00 (over 4.00) grades in average, for graduation.

Occupational Profiles of Graduates

Our graduates should take minimum points and grades from Public Personnel Selection Exam (KPSS) and to have formation degree, to work as Physics teachers at State and private educational institutions. They can have certain positions at Computer Industry. In addition they can work at Quality Control Labs of State and Private Institutitons and also they can be employed at TUBİTAK, , TELEKOM, TAEK, MTA, MKE, DSİ as technical staff.

Access to Further Studies

Graduates of Physics Ph.D programme can be employed at academic positions of Higher Education Institutions at national and global level and they can also apply for expert posts at research institutions.
