Qualification Awarded

Students are entitled to have an undergraduate certificate/diploma who are successfully complete program courses (total 240 ECTS) and achieve at least 2.00 GPA from 4.00 grade system.

Specific Admission Requirements

It is needed to succeed in the exam conducted by OSYM for the acceptance to the universities in Turkey.

Qualification Requirements

In order to obtain a degree in nursing program, students must complete all compulsory and elective lessons (a total of 240 ECTS credits) successfully and his/her overall grade point average must be at least 2.0.

Recognition of Prior Learning

Recognition of prior non-formal and informal learning is at the beginning stage in Turkish Higher Education Institutions. Exams of exemption are organized at the start of each year at the University for the courses of English Language and computer skills. The students who have completed the proficiencies for these courses on his/her one or through other means, and believe that they have achieved the learning outcomes specified are given the right to take the exemption exam. The students who achieve a passing grade from these exams are held exempt from the related course in the curriciculum.

History

The school was established by decision of (dated 10.10.1996 and 96/8655 numbered) the Council of Ministers in order to increase the efficiency of health services with at 1 st National Health Congress "Health Education Restructuring Project". School has gained legal personality when the director of the school was assigned at 02/04/1997 Department of Nursing has started its activities in academic year 1997-1998 when building and the fixtures has been received by decision of Protocol at 10/03/1997

Profile of the Programme

The individual, family, and community health protection, development, and disease in the case of improvement for the purpose of nursing services in planing, organizing, implementing, evaluating, and these services instead of the people who bring in training nurses to train.

Program Outcomes

1- Has the knowledge about fulfill the role and functions of nursing to meet the needs of health care of individual, family, group and community,
2- Has the intellectual knowledge for nursing,
3- Understand the importance of interdisciplinary interaction,
4- Transfer the theorical knowledge to practice,
5- Has the critical thinking and problem-solving skills,
6- Can identify the problems, analyse it, develop solutions based on evidence and research,
7- Practice therapeutic communication skills in nursing,
8- Can take responsibility individually and as team member to solve the problems encountered in nursing practice,
9- Can evaluate the acquired knowledge and skills by a critically approach,
10- Can adopt life-long learning,
11- To plan and manage activities for the professional development of the employees under their responsibility,
12- To share ideas and suggestions for solutions with other by supporting qualitative and quantitative data,
13- To follow developments in nursing and to communicate with colleagues in a foreign language,
14- To inform the persons, institutions and inform society on nursing issues; transfer the thoughts, and suggestions for solutions to problem in written and oral forms,
15- Can use the information and communication technologies required level of nursing,
16- To claim the social, scientific and ethical values at the steps of data collection, interpretation, reporting and practice,
17- To claim the valuing social rights, social justice awareness, gaining safe to have enough awareness on environmental issues,
18- To have enough awareness about quality management processes,
19- To contribute to professional development.

Exam Regulations & Assesment & Grading

%40 percent of the midterm grade and %60 percent of the final exam grade add up to the overall passing grade. Students are required to take a mid-term examination and/or complete other assigned projects/homework during the semester and, additionally are required to take a final examination and/or complete a final project for course evaluation. The assessment for each course is described in detail in "Individual Course Description". The midterm examinations are compacted and given in the 8th week of the semester. In addition to midterm examinations and other work students are required to take a final examination. Final examinations are held at the appropriate place and hour as decided. Forty percent of the midterm grade and 60 percent of the final exam grade add up to the overall passing grade. Students' attendance is followed by the Instructor of the course. Scores Midterm/Final Grades Coefficient: 90-100 AA 4, 85-89 BA 3.5, 80-84 BB 3, 75-79 CB 2.5, 70-74 CC 2, 65-69 DC 1.5, 60-64 DD 1, 50-59 FD 0.5, 49 and below FF 0

Graduation Requirements

Students must obtain a grade point average of at least 2.00 out of 4.00 and successfully pass all courses on the program (equivalent to a total of 240 ECTS)

Occupational Profiles of Graduates

Student who have successfully completed four years of undergraduate education, titled as a nurse. After graduated from this department, nurses has the chance to work in center, clinics, and hospitals where diagnosis, treatment, care, and rehabilitation services can be offered, institutions providing health education and counseling, departments of school health, occupational health, elderly health, health insurance, environment, tourism and health services in the fields of forensic medicine, the pharmaceutical industry. Also they have opportunity to work as health care, education and the management with academic education.

Access to Further Studies

The graduates holding Bachelor's Degree are eligible to apply to Master's Degree programs provided that a valid point of ALES examination and a sufficient level of foreign language knowledge.
