History

Graduate School of Social Sciences (Muğla Sıtkı Koçman Üniversitesi Sosyal Bilimler Enstitüsü) was established in 1992 and began operating in 1993. Bachelor studies are offered since 2004 and master studies since 2011 in Labour Economics and Industrial Relations department. Doctoral studies initiated in 2016-2017 academic year. In 2017-2018 academic year, Labor and Human Resources Management Non-Thesis Master's Program was opened.

Profile of the Programme

Labour Economics and Human Resources Management Non-Thesis Master Program is comprised of an education system that contributes to both theoretical and practical knowledge in social policy and industrial relations fields. The main objective is to ensure incorporation and development of interdisciplinary knowledge specific to the field. Another objective of the program is to train senior and qualified personnel for both public and private sectors. For this purpose, education and research areas of the program are divided into key areas such as labour economics, human resources management, social policy, labour and social security law, industrial relations and employment. To succeed in the program students are required to have the ability of analytical thinking.

Program Outcomes

1- Scientific thinking in the field of social sciences, learning and using method knowledge, research and reaching knowledge, evaluating and commenting on information.
2- At the macro level, we have knowledge about the structure of our human existence, its potential, its role in development, and international labor movements.
3- Recognizes family, education and health policies so that human capital can play an effective role in economic and social development.
4- Specialize in the theoretical and practical level of human resources processes and functions in economic units.
5- Have the competence to develop and implement application programs as well as to be able to create new knowledge in the field of human resources.
6- Have the competence to translate the theoretical knowledge into practice for the provision and development of labor peace and social dialogue in working life.
7- Basic knowledge about human resources from psychology, sociology and jurisprudence can be well known and applied in practice to manage the processes and results of their working life.
8- Analyze and interpret the workings of individual and collective work and social security, and the conflict and conflict processes in these areas.
9- Have sufficient consciousness about the universality of work, social rights, social justice and ethical values.
10- Develops knowledge about the legal, economic, sociological and psychological aspects of the working life at the level of expertise.

Exam Regulations & Assesment & Grading

Each student has to register classes and continue at least 70% of courses to enter the final examination. Students are subjected at least one midterm and final exam for each course. Success grade is 40% contribution of midterm exam (as the midterm grade could be considered marks which obtained from measuring tools as homework, laboratory exam, quizzes, etc.) and 60% contribution of final exam. All exams are evaluated over 100 points. Obtaining at least 45 points in final exam is required. Students who have received a letter grade of (AA), (BA), (BB), (CB) and (CC) are considered successful from that course. (DC) and (DD) grades are successful conditional grades. Student’s GPA must be at least 2.0 for being successful in a course which is taken (DC) or (DD) grades.

Graduation Requirements

To graduate from this programme, students should complete a Project and take 10 courses successfully.
