Metallurgy and Materials Engineering

Specific Admission Requirements

Candidates must have high school diploma and an eligible score from the University Entrance Exam.

Qualification Requirements

Succeed in all the courses in the program (240 ECTS in total), the students are expected to get a grade point average of 2.00 out of 4.00.

Recognition of Prior Learning

The students who study at Mugla Sıtkı Koçman University may be exempt from some courses according to certain regulations. They may be exempt from the courses if the application is in time and the content is approved by the administrative board of the related vocational school/faculty/institute.

History

Our department has got started by accepting undergraduate students in 2010-2011 academic year. The language of education in all programs of our department is English.

Profile of the Programme

Metallurgy and Materials Engineering Department accepts 40 new students for each year. Besides students from ERASMUS and FARABI exchange program are accepted, our students can prefer these exchange programs to go another undergraduate school.

Program Outcomes

1- Student gains the ability of applying mathematics, science and engineering knowledge in materials engineering area
2- To gain the ability of analysis, comment, evaluation and dealing with the knowledge of ceramics, metals, polymers and composite materials
3- Student gains the ability of deciding the problem, designing the experiment within the standards and analyzing the outcomes of the experiments in materials engineering area.
4- Student provides to improve the existing materials or create new ones by creating ideas between the relations of structure, property, process and performance of materials.
5- Student designs or improves the system, product or process within the realistic borders of productibility, health, security, quality, environment and economics.
6- Student uses foreign languages to learn and follow the knowledge and to communicate with his/her colleagues in abroad.
7- Ability of using modern engineering tools needed for engineering applications
8- To obtain ability of working, execution and managing in interdisciplinary atmosphere with a team harmony
9- To understand and adopt the concept of professionalism, occupational ethics and responsibility
10- Having awareness of learning is continuous and faith of preservation of this awareness

Exam Regulations & Assesment & Grading

For each course, the format of assessment and evaluation is defined in detail in “Course Teaching Plan”.

Graduation Requirements

To complete the bachelor´s degree in Metallurgy and Materials Engineering program the students must successfully complete the required and elective courses (total 240 ECTS) and maintain the minimum cumulative GPA of 2.0/4.0

Occupational Profiles of Graduates

Our graduates can easily find job in companies and public sector as metallurgy and materials engineers. Having language of education is English, provide big advantage to our graduates.

Access to Further Studies

Candidates, who successfully complete their undergraduate education, can apply graduate school, if they get satisfactory point from ALES.
