Muğla Vocational School Programme of Electronics Technology

Qualification Awarded

The students are awarded with Pre-Bachelor Degree in Electronics Technology Programme after completing all requirements of curriculum programme successfully and fulfilling all other requirements of graduation. The program graduates have the title of Electronic Technology Technician.

Specific Admission Requirements

The students' admission to Higher Education is based on a nation-wide Student Selection Examination (YGS). The examination is held once in a year and administered by the Student Selection and Placement Center (ÖSYM). The candidates are registered to Higher Education Institutions according to their examination scores and their high school grade point averages.

Qualification Requirements

Students who want to enroll in the Electronic Technology Programme are required to complete the secondary education programme. Students who graduated from high school must be graduated from the secondary education program determined by the Higher Education Institution in order to pass without examination. There is no limit to the maximum duration of study in order to obtain a pre-bachelor degree.

Recognition of Prior Learning

The students of our university have the right to request the recognition of prior learning from their previous universities. For the recognition of their prior learning, they should submit their transcript and course contents to the relevant department in the first semester of registration year.

History

Electronics Technology Programme was found officially in 1998-1999 Academic Year. A total number of students are 80 at the moment, 40 of them from daytime education and 40 of them from evening education. Four lecturers and one faculty member work in Electronics Technology Programme.

Profile of the Programme

This programme provides practical and theoretical training on subjects such as producing and distributing energy, installing and operating various kinds of electrical equipment and machinery, preparing electrical materials and units, controlling and measurement techniques, illumination projects, industrial electrics, and safety in electrical systems. Graduates are awarded the title ‘electrician,’ and they can find employment in the public or private sector.

Program Outcomes

1- 1. Students have the theoretical knowledge that can understand the theory of working principles of circuit elements used in electronic technologies.
2- 2. They know electronic and basic electrical elements and usage places.
3- 3. They know the working principles of parts used in electronic systems.
4- 4. They can be used the basic knowledge acquired in the field, working principles of electronic devices used in everyday life, architects and areas where faults can occur.
5- 5. They can make electronic circuit design (technical drawing) in computer environment.
6- 6. They can make the production of the electronic circuit board and control.
7- 7. They take responsibility as a team member as well as individually.
8- 8. They use electronic circuit computer simulation programs.
9- 9. They can identify defects that may occur in electronic devices.
10- 10. They can use measuring instruments in places where your profession requires and have practical knowledge to use additional measuring instruments with additional training
11- 11. They are able to understand the technical features of the products of the electronic circuit manufacturers and communicate with their colleagues in a foreign language.
12- 12. They have the values of environmental protection, occupational health, safety consciousness and professional ethics.
13- 13. They have a level of knowledge that can follow the current technology in computer environment.
14- 14. They can use information and communication technologies, especially computers, in almost all fields of the profession, and keep their knowledge updated with lifelong learning consciousness.

Exam Regulations & Assesment & Grading

At least one midterm exam and a final exam are performed for each course given. Quizzes and assignments can also be assessed. The success grade is assessed by midterm exam, short-term exam and homework are 40% and final exam is 60%. In this assessment, the course instructor takes into account the statistical results of the scores of the students taking the courses from the midterm and final exams and the notes taken are converted to a 4-letter system within the framework of the regulations. A student who receives one of the grades AA, BA, BB, CB and CC grades is considered successful. The DC and DD grades taken from a course are evaluated according to the graduate weighted average grade of the student. If the weighted grade point average of the student is above the success grade (2.00), these courses are defined as successful. In the interim years / years, this letter grade is evaluated by the coefficients in the calculation of the weighted general grade averages. The student who receives the FF grade is unsuccessful. Every student has to attend classes, practice, laboratory, project, seminar, workshop, semester work, graduation projects. Students who are not enrolled in at least 70% of the theoretical courses and at least 80% of the practical and laboratory studies are not allowed to take the final exams from those courses. Students have to repeat the relevant lessons until they fulfil the attendance requirement in the theoretical courses. Examinations are usually performed as writing. However, the teaching staff may also decide to perform an oral examination. According to the content of the courses, Students can be directed to the project study provided that they are indicated on the information form.

Graduation Requirements

To succeed in the programme, the students should complete successfully all courses (optional and compulsory) and average grade must be 2.0 out of 4.

Occupational Profiles of Graduates

The graduated students may be employed in electronics and factory fault/maintenance, government institutions, electronic security companies, PLC and microcontroller programming sectors.

Access to Further Studies

The graduate students who succeed in Vertical Crossing Exam (DGS made by ÖSYM) have opportunity to continue their bachelor degree in: Electrical Engineering, Electronic and Communication Engineering, Electrical-Electronic Engineering.
