Muğla Vocational School Programme of Cartography and Surveying Tecniques

Qualification Awarded

Students of the Map and Cadastre program are eligible to receive a bachelor's degree diploma after completing their course successfully and fulfilling other conditions.

Specific Admission Requirements

Higher Education Students are required to enter the Higher Education Transition Examination, which is held nationwide for admission. The Higher Education Transition Exam is held once a year by the Student Selection and Placement Center. Students are placed in the departments of the Higher Education Institutions according to the scores from the Higher Education Transition Exam and the average of high school grades.

Qualification Requirements

There is no limit to the maximum duration of study in order to obtain an undergraduate degree.

Recognition of Prior Learning

Students enrolled in higher education institutions have the right to request recognition of their previous learning at different universities. For the registration of new enrolled students, they must submit their transcripts and course content to the relevant department within the first week of enrollment.

History

During the academic year 1994-1995, the map and cadastre program started as an organized teaching activity. In the 2001-2002 academic year, the second education students were also taken. 80 students are enrolled in the map and cadastre program each year, 40 (normal education) and 40 (secondary education). There are 3 lecturers in Map Cadastre program.

Profile of the Programme

The aim of the Map and Cadastre Program is to educate the human power to work with the title of "Map Technician" with the theoretical and practical knowledge in the construction and implementation of maps and plans which constitute the sub-structure of important projects such as dam and energy transmission lines, planning, reconstruction, cadastre, infrastructure (road, sewerage, drinking water, gas pipeline, communication line, subway etc.), large energy and irrigation projects, urban information systems, immovable valuation, expropriation, land consolidation in public and private sectors.

Program Outcomes

1- To be able to analyze the basic subjects of map and cadastre operations, to have the ability to solve professional problems with analytical thinking ability
2- Having the knowledge and skill to use simple and modern measuring instruments and to make fast and precise measurements according to today's measurement methods
3- Having the ability to use computer aided map drawing and other CAD applications effectively with knowledge of classical map drawing methods
4- To have sufficient knowledge and practice skills on issues related to property such as cadastre studies, expropriation and land consolidation
5- To have knowledge about map making with photogrammetric and remote sensing methods.
6- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing, to ensure technical and legal coordination, to gain entrepreneurship and social skills

Exam Regulations & Assesment & Grading

Every student has to attend classes, practices, labs, projects, seminars, workshops, semester work, graduation projects. Students who do not attend at least 70% of the theoretical courses and at least 80% of the practical and laboratory studies are not allowed to take the final exams from those courses. Students have to repeat the relevant lessons until they fulfill the attendance requirement in the theoretical courses. Examinations are usually conducted in writing. However, the teaching staff may also decide to conduct an oral examination. Depending on the content of the lessons, the students may be directed to the project work provided that they are indicated on the information form. The exams of the courses are taught by the instructors who teach. Students with excuse exams may be held with the approval of the relevant board within 15 days of the end date of the midterm exam.

Graduation Requirements

In order to complete the program successfully, it is necessary to pass all the courses available (120 ECTS credits), to obtain a weighted GPA of at least 2.00 out of 4.00, to have no FF and FD grades, and to complete the compulsory internship successfully.

Occupational Profiles of Graduates

Students who graduated from the map and cadastre program are qualified according to their qualifications; They are employed in the public and private sector establishments that carry out the activities of planning, executing, submitting, producing projects from maps and carrying out the landscaping related to land. Graduates will be able to work with KPSS in the Directorates of Land Registry and Cadastre General Directorate (TKGM), in municipalities, in Provincial Directorates of Environment and Urbanization, Provincial Directorates of TCK, Provincial Directorates of Forestry and Water Works, Public institutions, as well as in the private sector, private companies, construction companies, banks, CMB licensed valuation companies, such as opportunities to find employment opportunities.

Access to Further Studies

If graduated students are successful in the Vertical Transfer Examination (Vertical transfer exam is done by Assessment Selection and Placement Center) they may have the chance to receive training at a bachelor's degree.
